so i picked daniel up from the airport yesterday. i walked there from school, longest walk ever when i was all nervous and stuff. so i got there and was waiting and waiting and waiting (he took forever to come out). and i was all super nervous haha cause we havent seen each other in like 2.5 months. so anyway, he came out of the customs place and we hugged. then they found out he had cocaine in his bag, so he had to be held for questioning. and he was arrested and it was a mess. ok just kidding. so i met him and then asked him if he wanted to walk or take a bus. he said walk, so we did. and he wouldnt let me carry anything, and now he is sore from all the walking (sooooo american haha). we checked into our hotel, i started in french and the one girl kept talking in french, but then somehow we got switched to english :( probably when i said "shit!" cause i didnt have my passport and had to go get it from claire's. our hotel was really nice.
we had dinner here at claire's. it was good, claire was nice to daniel and in a really good mood. one of the english kids that was here had to go to the hospital cause he had food poisoning or something since the day before. kind of a shitty end to his stay in Nice, i dont know where he got it from.
i took daniel all around the city. now we are chillin at my place waiting for it to be time to catch our train to Paris!!!! should be a very interesting adventure, im super pumped!!!! its going to be awesome

weahter
uummmm...it just hailed? wtf. it was like a hurricane this morning. then it got all pretty and sunny. then right as i walked the 30 minutes to the stores, it poured the whole way there and back, and now it is hailing. i dont get it. but i hope tomorrow is nice, cause i am walking to the airport to meet daniel!!!!!!! super excited!!!

christines 2nd pimple....EVER
big news- my roommate got her first pimple over the weekend. ok she says maybe her second. i wish i was just getting the second pimple of my life. i dont think i have seen someone freak out so much over one pimple before. hahaha sorry christine, i had to say it, gotta remember moments like this forever. <3 her dad just told her her new glasses look nerdy haha, but he wears 80s glasses and his hobby is studying haha.

the weather today was amazing! i went to the beach today before class. just went by myself and read a little while poss getting a tan. the rock beaches are pretty cool because i dont get covered in sand, and neither does anything that i have with me. but it kinda sucks when i have rocks jabbing into my back haha. ups and downs of life i suppose. it is a pretty relaxing life, i never have hw to worry about.
ensuite i met nathalie and stephan to walk to class. omg the colline is killer when it is warm and i got sweaty. in class, i daydreamed. we never do much of anything. during the second half of class i got some written and reading comprehension stuff back. my prof thinks i will do fine on the harder exam, the certificate pratique, which i need to take to get credit for my minor. then we were doing some worksheets and i was lazy and really didnt feel like doing them. its hard to get back into the swing of never doing anything after having a 4 day weekend of also not doing anything hahahahaha. so i was just sitting there and Mme loung came over and was like "oh erin you look tired. if you are tired, its ok you dont have to do the work. you are almost done anyway. you can do it thursday if you want." she was totally serious haha. so i just chilled and talked to people. i probably wont go to class on thursday.
me and christine went over to jean medecin and into fnac (the french best buy pretty much) and i bought the third book of twilight, "hésitation"!!!!! i had to go ask the lady if they had anymore because the third one wasnt on the shelf with all of the "hits". guess the rest of Nice is on the 3rd book too. so i went and asked and she was likeee "eehhh en français?" and i was like f is my french really that bad? so i told her yes and she seemed suprised haha, and then told me that it was in the section "pour les jeunes" behind the section of adult books with the green sign. so i read kids books, whatevz, i do what i want...and yeah its in french dammit. im super cool. i gotta watch the movie soon. im totally hooked. then i bought some clothes
claire called later and she said she was gonna be late, so we should achetons some pizza. went to the little van on the corner a few blocks up and got some. its sooo good. ate pretty much all of it. i got a thonina pizza, with fromage, tomate, thon, et origin or something. the english translation under it was pretty good "cheese, tomato, tunny, oregano". tunny hahaha made me laugh ok, tunny instead of tuna. i love all the attempts at english signs around here : "open all the days", "tunny", "lady night" "open non-stop" (which i would take to mean open 24/7, but then their hours are like 11 to 4, but maybe that is just me). the best was the suggestions sheet that we had at the campsite, i wish i had written it down, our suggestion was to rewrite their english translation. they should probably just do it in french, we would have understood it better. k im done for today, gotta go finish planning out how to get to and from airports over break.

oh so me and linsay are like bff now, thought shed appreciate me telling the world about this...i mean not that we werent friends before haha. also, met the new kids. they are nice. but i thinkthey think christine and i are younger or the same age as them. F LOOKING LIKE A 16 YEAR OLD ALL THE TIME maaaan. im freaking 22, gimme some respect. haha yeah i look like a little kid. a bouncer at a bar tried to card me once....they dont card anyone in france, the drinking age is like non-freaking-existant, butttt they carded me. im the oldst person on the trip haha. f. well i guess it will come in handy and i am 30 and just finishing school, at least i will still look 22....unless my life sucks and i go straight from 16 to 55. f

sup sup. thursday 9.4.09: had langue oral with Mme Loung. she is crazy. nuff said. but she is in love with obama (who isnt) and apparently he said "hey kids" at some point, and now she loves using the word kids. i had to explain to her the kids is used for boys and girls, that there wasnt a different word for girls. she loooves making "les americanes" as she calls us talk about obama. non stop haha. everyone over here loves him, and michelle. its pretty cool. i dont think i did much else worth mentioning this day.
friday 10.4.09: got up mad early to go to the port to get the ferry to corsica. claire was nice and gave me, christine, and lindsay a ride to it. she also stopped and bought us baugettes. good times. i spelt on the boat (which was like a cruise ship) and read some of "fascination". such a long ride, like 4 hours. once we got there we took the longest way possible to find the casino to buy some food. but it was ok, good little site seeing adventure. then we went to the beach. it was soooooo pretty. once it started getting cold we left to go find our bungalow. it was pretty cute. good place to spend my entire weekend. not even kidding, the sun went away and i went into hibernation. lindsay and i spent the weekend reading fasination and tentation haha awesome booooks!!!!! ooo christine freaked out about the toilet not flushing....it was because the water wasnt turned on haha. that was pretty good. claire called me just to chat it up twice. kinda cute. she loves chatting people up towards the end of dinner, with new kids around. makes her feel good or something. so she called me and it was a pretty one sided convo haha. i was like "oh oui! oui! non! uhhhh je sais pas, il faisait beau mais pas maintenant. il y a des nouages" it was a pretty pro convo, i hope the new kids could tell how awesome i am from it haha.

i figured out how to get back into UMD after graduation so that i can start my next degree, that i actually want to do for once. should be awesome. uuuhhhh well in french eeeeehhhh.

chef-d'oeuvre
soooo much for keeping a blog haha. so i think it has been like a week since i started this masterpiece, and i know everyone (my 2 followers) are excited for the next installment of ma vie en france. sooo here it goes.
um last week- i went to class. class here is so amazing (totes sarcasm). i think i searched the internet for most of them. oh and listend to Mme loung repeat the même phrase 233414 trillion times, like we didnt understand what the word merde meant the first time she said it. also, the austrian girls that i didnt like left, and claire bought me and christine presents. it was nice...until claire told me that i need to acheter my own toilet paper to blow my nose when i have a cold, because apparently my 720 euros a month doesnt cover nose blowing. too bad, i used a whole roll for it.
what else for last week- ooooo erin stott m'a envoyé le livre Twilight, but in french. so its called fascination. ive been reading it non stop. its pretty good, and because it is in french and i understand it, it makes me feel good about myself. like im cool or something.
ce week-end- christine and i went to the beach and made our little host sister come wtih us cause we felt bad she has been inside here forever. she is from switzerland, and probaly more confused by french than i was when i got here. they we dragged her around town while we did some errands. she was a good sport. i like her, she is sweet.
omg dimanche- we went on a freaking hike with Mme letzter. this was no like calm walk through the french countryside. it was the most extreme freaking rondonnée i have ever faired. we went for like 5 hours. up ridic steep hills, and down them. through crazy mud and little rivers. hahaha and got screamed at while crossing the path of a mountain bike race. some dude cused out our teacher (all in french) because their race happened to be on the damn hiking trail and we couldnt really get around it. so we had to cross it. we didnt get in anyones way, but he still felt it was necissaire to yell at letzter and its ok cause she yelled back. then we hiked to some ancient ruines that were pretty awesome. the town was abandonded because of the plague or drought or quelquechose comme ça. but they were cool, and unlike in the states where everything is interdit to get near, we could climb and explore all over them. i took pics that i put up on my picasa. u can check them if you want to...si tu veux. (yeah i know u are aimering my franglish).
this week-
lundi: i went to oral. didnt do much, probably shouldnt have gone, searched the internet and then talked for 5 minutes to my prof at the end. then i went to casino and bought 3 bars of chocolate and a little notebook to write down all me and daniel's hotel info and how to get places so we wont get lost without internet on our trip. i am so super pumped for our trip. he will be here in 9 days!!!!! then its off ro paris, venice, rome, and madrid.
mardi: slept super late, went to ecrit class. my prof told me that i will be fine on the harder final exam so i am pumped about that. then i went with ben on an adventure to find ice cream. we finally found it, i got a whole container of caramel....sooooooo good (no i didnt eat all of it, even thought i wanted to). then we chilled at his place with stephan and looked over notes for the one test/graded thing i have had all semester.
today: i had class soooo early (11h hahahah sooooo early for me now). we had a DST, which i realized we could use our notes for, so we didnt have to study anyway, oh and i dont even think it is graded. i am pretty sure it was just practice hahahaha oh french school. its so ridic, im in the lowest level, u would think that the people who dont know much french would need the most class time and work to do. alors, no, its the 2nd and 3rd level people who have all the class and work. this really is a vacation for me. good thing i decided that my life plan involves being in school until i am 30 rofl.
this upcoming weekend- me, christine (my christine), rachel v, lindsay, and zanib are going to corsica. we are taking a ferry there and then staying in a little bungalow. should be interesting. in my class with Rosso tonight, she told us that there is a lot of terrorism in corsica and that everytime she was going to go, she didnt because of a bomb hahahah, good freaking thing to tel us AFTER we booked out ticekts and everything, donc nous serons là. what else...had pizza for dinner, had coke for the first time in like 2 months, so now i am super hyper. oh and i ate an entire bar of chocolate and i wsh i had more. ohhhh well. ok maybe i will try to update this more often.
